King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the monarch of Thailand, is the world's longest reigning royalty. In June, 2006 he celebrates 60 years on the throne. The Thai king is a very revered figure in the kingdom. Thailand is a constitutional monarchy with a prime minister and elected legislature, but the king has tremendous moral power and is truly listened to by the people and the government. Elaborate celebrations are being prepared for June but already signs of the people's love and respect for King Bhumibol are throughout Bangkok.
